[Maybe OT?] Everyday medieval life in northern England?

Hello to everybody :-)!
I'm trying to learn something about everyday life in England, in particular
in the northern England, between the end of the 12th Century and the
beginning of the 13th Century.
We can consider as an example a city, York or what you want. What was the
politic organization? There were a lord? Did he have a little army?
Which social strata we could found in this city? How was structured the
society? They practise commerce, agriculture, handicraft? Or which other
activities?
In fact, I would know the political, social and economic aspects of a
typical village or city of the 12th-13th Century in the northern England.
Could you give me some link, or some information?
I hope you'll can help me. Thank you anyway!

For medieval urban life, you may find Stephen Alsford's website on "Medieval
English Towns" useful:

The book English Village Community by Frederic Seebohm could answer many
of your questions (available on CD from Anguline Research Archives).
Cheers

and when you move forward a few years, lawrence stone is always
entertaining...albeit a bit creaky, now

"social change and revolution in england 1540-1640"...

_Medieval Carlisle_ by Henry Summerson is an excellent
and well documented book that provides social and
political history for that Northern city from the late
11th to mid-16th century. It would answer your
questions. Unfortunately, it may not be the easiest
publication to locate, though you might find it at a
large research library or through inter-library loan
(if you have access).

Best regards,
