A Request to All

Legg inn av Leo van de Pas » 28 sep 2005 10:40:02

I played Richardson's game, answering a question with a question. No, he did
not reply.

I think it is time more people call Richardson to account for his behaviour.
When he is asked a question and replies with a counter question PLEASE as
many people as possible send a message saying something like "You are
Bobbing and Weaving, we expect you to reply"

Only once it becomes clear to him that more people disapprove of his
behaviour only then, hopefully, will it sink in with him that his games are
not appreciated.

I would hate to see that Richardson will be named as the person who
destroyed gen-med.

I believe that all questions, most of the time anyway, deserve an answer.
You have here a request to me, would you like me to ignore it as much as
you ignore the questions of others?

Dear Leo ~

I suggest you check the newsgroup archives at the following web
address:

http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/GEN-MEDIEVAL

The archives show that that postings for the last three months have
been double the number of postings for the same three months last year.
If anything, the newsgroup is healthier than ever.

Sheer numbers of postings as proof of health? Qualitative evaluation of
these postings would seem to be essential in any determination of "site
health". Numbers alone do not tell the tale.

What has quantity got to do with quality? Once Richardson is allowed to go
even more rampant Gen-Med will have lost its value. Also I wonder how many
of the lurkers have disappeared, disappointed in the _quality_ of many
messages? Volume of messages have no bearing on quality.

I tend to agree with Doug on this. Even though there has been much
fighting (or rather, petty nagging), people have taken a greater
interest since June, I think.

Think how dull the world would be if we all had to live under an
orthodoxy of the little strictures of a Peter Stewart or a Leo von de
Pas ...

Oops, I mean "van de Pas," of course. Wouldn't want to elevate Leo to
the nobility, you know.

"Leo von de Pas" ...

Hmmmmmmmm...

Leo does seem to have a persistent Germanic streak -- very authoritarian
and stubbornly insistent -- even when wrong -- indeed especially when
wrong.

It makes him very funny to read.

Absolutely right, Tony - there have been some interesting and useful
exchanges lately, but also a lot of dross (some of it from me).
