Drawing Lines

I have just been told that there is a biography of Moctezumah and in this book is shown how the heir of the Aztecs is the present (15th) Duke of Abrantes, Don Jose Manuel de Zuleta y Alejandro, born in 1960.

I thought that is an interesting line from a very special ancestor, but does this Duke have other interesting ancestors? Well, does he ever.

Pope Innocenzo VIII
Pope Gregorio XIII
Pope Alexander VI
Pope Paul III
Anti-Pope Felix V

Philip II King of Spain
Francois I King of France
Catherine de Medici, Queen of France
Joao II, King of Portugal
Lucrezia Borgia
John of Gaunt
Edward III King of England
William the Conqueror
Charlemagne

Then I was curious as to how this Duke is related to several people on gen-med, and here we go:

Peter de Loriol, 11th cousins
Doug McDonald, 17th cousin twice removed
Andrew MacEwen 17th cousins once removed
Tim Powys-Lybbe, 19th cousins
Brice Clagett, 19th cousins once removed
Ian Fettes, 19th cousins once removed
Brom Nichol Jr. 19th cousins once removed
John Steele Gordon, 19th cousins once removed
Louise Staley, 19th cousins twice removed
Tony Hoskins, 20th cousins
Grant Menzies, 20th cousins once removed
Mike Welch, 23rd cousins once removed

Somehow this links all of these to Moctezumah, and seems to make the genealogical world a small place.

Hope this is of interest.
