Update: Robert Brooke of Cockfield Hall / William Blois / Na

Previously I had posted that Robert Brooke (Jr) of Cockfield Hall who had
married Anne Mildmay (16 Apr 1659) had died before 11 Oct 1670.

This is because document 2 (see below) states that Martha, the wife of
William Blois of Grundisburgh, is his sister and co-heir.

Their father Robert Brooke of Cockfield Hall has support in A2A for having
died before Jan 1647. The Ancestral File states 10 Jul 1646.

I had also stated that document 3 shows that Nathaniel Bacon was an heir of
this Robert Brooke (Sr). There is a slight correction to that. Document 3,
now comes to show, that it is speaking NOT of Robert Sr but rather of Robert Jr.

This is proven by Document 1, where quite sometime after the death of his
father, this Robert Brooke (Jr) is in possession of that very manor, Wansted,
that is the subject of document 3.

This new information does not alter the method by which Nathaniel Bacon is
connected to this family (through his wife Elizabeth Brooke). It only alters
the relationship of the parties to document 3. Nathaniel is the brother-in-law
of Robert Brooke instead of his son-in-law in that document.

Thus Robert Brooke Jr died between 9 Jul 1668 and 11 Oct 1670

I want to throw in an additional possible interpretation of these documents,
just in case I'm accused of being too restrictive in my theory.

That additional interpretation would be that this last Nathaniel Bacon is
actually SON of the earlier Nathaniel Bacon and his wife Elizabeth Brooke
herself dau of Robert Brooke.

In that case, him being a co-heir in 1670 would imply possible that his
parents are dead and he has no siblings. Then he'd be a co-heir with his aunts
presumably. However that's *still* a problem with the received wisdom of
Nathaniel Bacon the Virginia revolutionary since it is said he was sent to
Virginia by his father after he'd run through his living through profligate living.
However this Nathaniel, if he is that same person, has a dead father, and
is a co-heir to an estate (that of Robert Brooke) and presumably, earlier to
the estate of his father (the earlier Nathaniel Bacon).

When time permits, I'm going to see if I can outline all the property that
Robert Brooke Sr owned and all that property that Nathaniel Bacon owned and how
it got split between the various heirs. The main useful documents appear
to be in the archives of the Blois family on a2a. I'll try to post an outline
within the next week.
