He was one of the sons of Frederick Barbarossa and Beatrice of
Burgundy, engaged to Berenguela of Castile (future mother of Fernando
El Santo). A passage by Burchard von Ursburg described Conrad as "[A]
man thoroughly given to adultery, fornication, defilement, and every
foulness; nevertheless, he was vigorous and brave in battle and
generous to his friends."
I found a note that says he was murdered in Durlach in 1196, but I
cannot find a source the reason or the perpetrators. Anyone know?
Why was Conrad II, Duke of Swabia murdered?

He is supposed to have been murdered by the jealous husband of a woman he
had seduced.

I think I read it in Erwin Assmann's 'Friedrich Barbarossas Kinder',
_Deutsches Archiv für Erforschung des Mittelalters_ 33 (1977), but I don't
have this handy to check.
According to _Lexikon des Mittelalters_ Konrad was murdered by the husband
of a woman he had violated, citing Assmann's paper amongst other sources.

Where did you find that note?
ES Isenburg/Freytag von Loringhoven version, Volume I Tafel 5 only tells
he died 15 August 1196 (no place name is mentioned or how he died).
ES Schwennicke version Volume I.1 Tafel 15 gives he died 15 August 1196 at
Durlach and was buried at Lortch, but no indication of why he died.
Maybe I am not looking correctly in The Oxford Illustrated History of
Medieval Europe, edited by George Holmes, but I cannot find any mention of
him.
Erich Brandenburg "Die Nachkommen Karls des Grossen", page 47 only tells
he died 15August 1196.
If he was murdered, no doubt, these books would have recorded this. Maybe
somebody has a more detailed source?

Re: Why was Conrad II, Duke of Swabia murdered?
1. Decker-Hauff Hansmartin: Band III Seite 356
"Die Zeit der Staufer"
IX. GENERATION
68 (44) KONRAD
------------------------
* um 1171/74, + 15.8.1196 Durlach (als Ehebrecher von einem beleidigten
Ehemann - Variante: der Ehefrau - erschlagen?)
[killed by the husband or by the woman victim of (attempted?) rape]
2. Stälin Paul Friedrich: Seite 280
Geschichte Württembergs"
"Allein bereits am 15. August des Jahres fand er zu Durlach bei einem
Versuche gegen die Ehre einer Frau einen gewaltsamen Tod und wurde im
Kloster Lorsch beigesetzt."
[killed by the husband but doesn't state if the wife was raped ou
seduced]
[caught in flagrant adultery and stabbed by the husband or trying to
rape a virgin who bited him in the eye what caused his death 3 days
later, 13.8.1196, 24 years old]
....
Wikipedia, usually not a good source, gives a clear account:
"The causes for this assassination are not clear. Hypothetically it is
accepted that it concerns an act of revenge of a married man, whose
wife was raped by Konrad."

Many thanks for the replies. Sounds like Conrad went the way of Pope
John XII. *Tsk tsk*.
