Dear Newgroup,

According to CP VIII:286-7 Geoffrey Luttrell, nominal 2nd Lord Luterel,
of Irnham (being son and heir of Robert Luttrell, the 1st Lord); m.
Agnes, daughter of Sir Richard de Sutton, of Warsop and
Sutton-on-Trent, Notts. Concerning their marriage note "d" on page 287
reads:

(d) In 1318, after she had borne him several children, the manor of
Irnham was settled upon him and her for their lives (Cal. Patent Rolls,
1317-1321, p. 244). Many years after this it was found that they were
related in the third and fourth degrees of consanguinity. They were
able to obtain from the Pope, however, through the Archbishop of York,
a special dispensation legitimising their children (Cal. Papal Letters,
vol ii, p. 368).

My records show no close relationships between these two (admittedly my
ancestry for each is rather spotty).

Can anyone in the group give details on the relationship between them?
