In the genealogy of the Earls Spencer, Leo van de Pas, lists Aden Parkyns;
http://worldroots.com/brigitte/famous/f ... nc1798.htm
I am trying to determine if this is the Aden Parkins, grocer, listed as an
Adventurer in the London Company for Virginia. Is he the Arden (sic)
Parkins listed as a son of Richard Parkins, Esq. of Bunney, Notts in the
Visitation of the County of Nottingham(Harl. Soc vol 4, pp. 107, 159-160,
and under Parkyns in Burkes' Peerage and Baronetage, pp. 1690-91), see,
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... ngham.html
If yes to all, then his ancestry may be extended as
2 & 3 Richard Parkins, b 1541 d 1603 = Elizabeth Beresford (widow of
Humffrey Barley of Stoke, dau of Adam Beresford of Bentley, Com. Darby);
4 & 5, Richard Parkyns Born ~1470 = Anne Twynborrowe;
8 & 9, William Parkins Born ~1440 = Joan Reade
see, http://www.cs.indiana.edu/~pwp/ancestor by Prof. Paul W. Purdom, Jr.
It seems that there is a missing generation between 2 and 4. Has anyone
researched this family? Aden Parkins is sometimes given as the father of
Nicholas Perkins of Goochland Co. VA
Thanks,
Steven C. Perkins

Re: Aden Parkyns. b 1583, Bunney, Notts?
Two sources which may be of use on the Parkins/Parkyns/Perkins family are:
Rev. Walter E. Buckland, The History of Woodborough [online at
http://web.ukonline.co.uk/woodborough-heritage/buckland]
(see chapter XIV of this source)
A. Mary Sharp, The History of Ufton Court in the County of Berks and of the
Perkins Family [1892 - reprinted ca. 1994; at the FHL]
They show Aden Parkyns as son of Richard P. of Bunny and Elizabeth Beresford
as you indicate, and his ancestry can in fact be carried back several
generations (Leo's Genealogics data base probably has this ancestry - I know
I sent it to him!!) . But neither source gives much (if any detail) on Aden
except to mention him in pedigrees. Specifically they don't associate him
with the London Company for Virginia, nor do they give him a son Nicholas.

Re: Aden Parkyns. b 1583, Bunney, Notts?
Dear John, Steven et al
I was unable to access the link you supplied - it said it was "forbidden" to
access the site. Ouch!
I have a couple of Perkins of Bunny Park, Loughborough as follows:
Ann Perkins was born 25 Sep 1667 (no place mentioned). She married Henry de
Jersey, son of Helier de Jersey and Suzanne de Jersey on 8 Nov 1683 (again
no place mentioned) but probably Guernsey, Channel Islands.
Ann Perkins was the daughter of Henry Perkins who died 6 Feb 1678, and Mary
Hanson who was born 31 Jan 1643.
Henry Perkins was the son of Richard Perkins of Loughborough, who in turn
was the son of Sir Henry Perkins of Bunny Park, nr Loughborough. I'm not
sure what county Loughborough is in. This information is from a book called
"Our Kin" by E.J. de Guerin written in the late 1800s. The de Guerins were
a Hugenot family who settled in Guernsey.
These Perkins are later than the ones mentioned below, but I'm wondering if
you might be able to provide a link between mine and yours. The "Bunny"
seems too great a coincidence not to be a link between them all.
Best wishes

Thanks to all for your replies. I will obtain a copy of Elizabeth Parkyns
will. I'd appreciate any info specific to the life of Aden Parkins anyone
may have.
The Aden Parkins, grocer, is listed with a Thomas Perkins, and Sir
Christopher Perkins, as Adventures for Virginia.
Thanks,

This site says that Aden Parkyns of Bunny had a daughter Mary, first
wife to Col. John Jefferson of Virginia:

No idea whether it is accurate, of course...
