York City family of Bishop Thomas Morton (b.1564)

In one book about arms I saw a note that Bishop Thomas Morton, born in
York in 1564, used the goat's head arms of the Bawtry and Dorset
Mortons, and hence must be a member. The book gave citation for this,
and I have not been able to confirm it anywhere else. The biography
(available online at EEBO) written by his secretary, from which most of
our information comes, says only that he was the son of Richard Morton
of York, a mercer and alderman. ODNB says nothing about his ancestors,
nor does anyplace else I've looked.

Have any of you come across any reference to the family or ancestors of
Bishop Morton, or to his arms? I seem to have run into a brick wall.
Thank you for your assistance.
