Further Sutton anomalies?

Most know how unreliable the old Burke's Peerages are, but also how big an improvement the 1999 edition was.

In Burke's Extinct Peerage 1866 page 521 we are given

John de Suton, 3rd Baron, married 1st Alice daughter of Philip le Despencer and 2ndly Constance daughter of Sir Walter le Blount and by her had two sons John and Thomas.
This John died in 1407. Remember CP Volume VI page 358 has him die 3 September 1406 and Richardson has him die 28 August 1406. Richardson also gives him three sons, John, Thomas and Humphrey.
-------It appears that one generation is missing here, and the above John is made to have married his missing son's wife.

Burke's Peerage 1999 page 883 still gives John de Sutton, born 6 December 1361 (as Richardson does) married 1st Alice (died 1392) probably daughter of his guardian Philip le Despencer and had issue; married 2nd Joan (died 1408) and John died 10 March 1395/6.

Burke's Peerage seem to imply that the son of this John de Sutton, according to Richardson born about 1380, should be a son of this Alice, after all she died in 1392, and not by Joan. But Richardson does not give a mention of Alice as wife or mother.

What is the situation?
