Howth - St.Lawrence - Tristram

CP has a much stricter rule as to who is and isn't a Baron. they start counting several centuries _after_ Burke's Peerage began. And there is a serious discrepancy in the continuity of this family, and that is my main concern.

In Burke's Peerage 1899 edition page 773 starts the Lords Howth family.
To quote,
The original surname of this very ancient family was Tristram, and was exchanged for that of St.Lawrence. Sir Amoricus, of Amory Tristram (to make a long story short) married the sister of Sir John de Courcy, Earl of Ulster, and had three sons. He received the Barony of Howth as a reward for his involvement in a battle in 1177.

The eldest Sir Nicholas FitzAmory, 2nd Baron, no wife mentioned but he is the father of

Almericus de St.Lawrence, 3rd Baron of Howth, again no wife, but he is the father of

Adam de St.Lawrence, 4th Baron of Howth, no wife but he is the father of

Robert, 5th Baron of Howth father of

Nicholas, 6th Baron Howth, father of

Robert, 7th Baron Howth, father of

Adam, 8th Lord Howth, he married Isabella Pylart, and they are the parents of

Almericus, 9th Lord Howth, he died I may 1327, and his father of

Chrristopher, 10th Lord Howth, father of

Stephen, 11th Lord Howth, father of

Nicholas, 12th Lord Howth, he died 11 November 1404, father of

Christopher St.Lawrence, 13th Lord Howth, apparently died in 1430, father of

Sir Christopher St.Lawrence, 14th Lord Howth, married Elizabeth Bermingham and they had five sons and three daughters, their eldest son

Sir Robert St.Lawrence, 15th Lord Howth, on 23 February 1467 he was appointed chancellor of the green-wax (?) of the Exchequer. He married Joan Beaufort, 2nd daughter of Edmund Beaufort, Duke of Somerset by whom he had four sons and two daughters.

And now the Complete Peerage, Volume VI Page 604 onwards.
The description starts with : This is one of the Irish Peerages by prescription--- i.e. Peerages which were recognised in 1489 by Henry VII.....etc.

The lineage immediately clashes with the above.
Stephen St.Lawrence, of Howth (definitely not the 11th Lord mentioned above) died in 1435 and was married to Elinor Holywood, parents of

Christopher St.Lawrence (also not the 13th or 14th Lord mentioned above) 1st Baron of Howth, During his lifetime appears to have occurred the recognition of the Lord of Howth as a Lord of Parliament, he married before 1435 Anne Plunkett, and died between 17 September 1462 and 24 January 1463/4. He was the father of

Sir Robert St.Lawrence, 2nd Lord Howth, who is the same as the 15th Lord above. However, he had married (1) befolre 1459 Alice White and (2) in England in June or July 1478 Joan Beaufort as also mentioned above. His son and heir is by the first wife, which removes royal ancestors at this point. Still this son and heir is an ancestor of :

Lord William Campbell, Governor of South Carolina
Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington
Lady Caroline Lamb
Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland
Edmund Pomeroy Barrett-Lennard Pioneer ancestor to Australia
Edmund Thomas Henry Barrett-Lennard, Pioneer ancestor to Australia, as well as
Prince William of Wales

Can anyone reconcile these two lineages?
With many thanks.
