Update genealogics.org Margaret Clifford / Thomas Wentworth,

As I was meandering about, I noticed that Thomas Wentworth, and several other
Wentworth's figure in the middle of some research I'm doing.

Leo's great site http://www.genealogics.org have nothing on the parentage of this
Thomas who was 1st Earl Strafford.

A few things I picked up from his DNB entry "Wentworth, Thomas"
1) Leo does not show a birthyear for his wife Margaret Clifford, dau of
Frances Clifford, 4th Earl Cumberland and his wife Grisold Hughes. However the DNB
"Wentworth, Thomas" states this she was "eldest daughter of....". Since Leo
is already showing that her sister was born abt 1594, we can now say that
Margaret was born 1589/93. Therefore at her marriage she would have been 18 to 24
2) Thomas Wentworth's parents were Sir William Wentworth of
Wentworth-Woodhouse and his wife Anne dau of Sir Robert Atkinson of Stowall, Glocestershire.

Dear Will,

What you do is greatly appreciated by me. You steered me into the direction
of the parents of Thomas Wentworth. I already had them in my data base, but
as I had not marked the father as a baronet and his mother's surname spelled
as Atkyns (from Gerald Paget's book M 7396) I had not recognised them. By
finding the Wentworth grandparents I realised what had happened. I have
corrected it now in my data base and soon it will be on the website.

This makes the Earl of Strafford an "ancestral uncle" of Prince Charles.

Many thanks
Leo

Dear Will,
You overlooked Margaret's brother Henry, 5th Earl of Cumberland, born 28
February 1592, this decreases the time span a bit more. Francis, 4th Earl of
Cumberland and Grisold Hughes married March 1589 and so Margaret would be
born in 1590 or early 1591. Hope you agree.
