Nice post, Brice. This is a most interesting line of descent. Thanks
for sharing it with the newwsgroup. The connection to Guy Ritchie,
husband of the rock star Madonna, is a real winner!

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

From the DNB "Vaux, Nicholas" states that his father Sir William Vaux was
slain 4 May 1471 at the battle of Tewkesbury
and that his wife "Dame Kateryne Vaus" as "one of the ladies taken prisoners
in Queen Margaret's company"

The children of Sir William Vaux certainly had to be born before 1473
But further I find (DNB "Vaux, Nicholas") that Sir William was attained in
1461, lost his possessions and fled. This could explain why his wife Catherine
is said to be the daughter of "George Peniston of Piedmont".

Further, Nicholas Vaux, although given no firm birth year in DNB, says that
he was "granted for life the offices of steward of Olney and Newport Pagnell
dated 2 Nov 1485". He presented a petition to parliament 7 Nov 1485 asking for
the repeal of the attainder of 1461.

Surely he was at least 18-21 at this time?
Comments are welcome.

Leo at his great site http://www.genealogics.org states that
Elizabeth FitzHugh died bef 28 Jan 1513

The DNB "Vaux, Nicholas" states that his first wife Elizabeth FitzHugh died
sometime in the reign of Henry VII (d 21 Apr 1509)
and further states that "about 1507 Vaux married Anne daughter and coheir of
Sir Thomas Greene [of Green's Norton] who had died in 1506"

Further, Chalmer's Biographical Dictionary "Vaux, Nicholas" states that
Nicholas' heir Thomas, Lord Vaux of Harwedon was born in 1510. DNB "Vaux,
Nicholas" states that Elizabeth FitzHugh died leaving Nicholas three daughters.

So Thomas was the son of Nicholas' second wife Anne Greene of Green's Norton.
And therefore she had to be born bef 1497 and her father Thomas Greene before
1480.
