Dear Newsgroup Members,
I`ve been looking at the places
associated with the Families of Governor William Leete and Phebe (Leete)
Parkhurst. William`s father , John Leete was born in Dodington, Huntingdonshire,
his mother Anna Shute`s mother was Thomasine, daughter of Christopher Burgoyne
who in 1524 held the manors of Long Stanton and Redwold, Cambridge (Victoria
County History of England on-line who in 1538 appears to have forcibly
diseised Elizabeth (Cheyney) Vaux and her husband Lord Thomas Vaux of Harrowden of
her inheritance of the manor. He claimed to hold it as heir of the survivor
of the feofees of one of the John Cheyneys who held it in the frourteenth
century. He also held Midlow Grange and Colvilles manor as well as property in
Oakington, Huntingdon. John`s father Thomas Leete was born in Doddington,
Huntingdonshire while Phebe`s grandfather John Leete and father Robert Leete both
resided in Little Everden, Cambridge.
Sincerely,
