One of the elder John Gifford's confederates in the Ironworks in Dean
Forest was a certain Capt. Griffantius Phillips. I've found a couple
refs. to him on A2A:

from "Herefordshire Record Office: Records of Hill Court Estate" --

Creator(s):
Trafford family of Walford, Herefordshire

ref.

FILE [no title] - ref. F8/III/54 - date: 1647
hit[from Scope and Content] Lease of the Lower Forge, Lydbrook to
Griffantius Phillips.

from "Gloucestershire Record Office: Gloucester Borough Records" --

FILE [no title] - ref. GBR/H/2/3 - date: 1639-1661
hit[from Scope and Content] pp.179-180 1655 Copy of Letter of
Attorney to Captain Griffantius Phillips for taking possession of lands
in Ireland allotted to Mayor and Burgesses for their 'adventure'

The Pedigree Resource File on FamilySearch is showing a Griffantius
Philips, b. about 1620, who married Mary Coxwell, daughter of Samuel
and Mary (Strange) Coxwell of Cirencester, Gloucs. Does anybody know
anything about these Coxwells. I see they are in the 1623 Gloucs.
Visitation.
