Here are a few questions or problems concerning details in MCA. I have
put
these to Douglas Richardson privately and he suggested I post them on
the
newsgroup to see if any one else can contribute wisdom.

At page 681 Christopher Conyers, of Hornby, Yorkshire, is called a
knight.
I do not believe he was one. ODNB (correctly in this instance, I think)
says he
was never knighted.

At page 662 it is said that Sir William Pierrepont was present at the
Field of the
Cloth of Gold (1520). Evidence? If he was, then he cannot have died, as
also
stated at page 662, in 1517. However, I show his date of death as August
29, 1533.

Also at page 662 Ellen Longford, wife of Sir Henry Pierrepont, is called
a daughter
of Nicholas Longford (IV), who died in 1415. Rosie Bevan in her superb
article on the
Longfords, while observing that there is no firm proof that Ellen was a
Longford
at all, believes that, if she was, she belongs a generation earlier in
the family, being
a daughter of Nicholas (III), who died in 1401.

At page 613 Margery Despenser, wife of Roger Wentworth, is said to have
died
on April 20, 1478. At page 434 this Margery's daughter, Margaret
Wentworth, wife of
Sir William Hopton, is said to have died on that same day. I suspect
that the
date is correct for the mother only.

You have to reformat your message when you transfer it from email to
USENET.

Otherwise the carriage returns mess up your line lengths as we see
below -- and you wind up with a dog's breakfast of a post that looks as
if it was made by a nine year old.

You didn't edit this before you posted it?

How could an accomplished attorney make a mistake like that?
