Thank you for your good post. You've asked an excellent question.

There are at least two documents in print which identify Richard de
Lucy as a knight. Both of them are ancient deeds, abstracts of which I
have copied below.

When you have the time, Brice, perhaps you could share with us some of
your numerous descents from Sir Richard de Lucy. I suspect most of
your gateway ancestors have the Lucy line in their ancestry. Right?

1. Ancient Deeds, A.341. [York.]

Grant by Alan son of Turfin to Roger de Ardena, with his daughter, of
three carucates of land in Burton, of the fee of Roger de Molb', and 28
acres therein of the fee of our lord the King (whereof 20 acres are in
Holmis, seven in Scatoreberga, and one "sub domo Hethne"), two acres of
meadow called 'Scletengra,'and a bovate of land in Blant,in free
marriage. Roger has given to Ralph, son of the aforesaid Alan, for his
consent, a gold ring. At the Exchequer, London, before Sir Richard de
Luci and Richard archdeacon of Poitou, Guy dean of Waltham, Reginald de
Warenne, Oger Senescal, and others (named). [Reference: Descriptive
Catalogue of Ancient Deeds in the Public Record Office 1 (1890): 38].

2. Ancient Deed, A.2327. [Kent].

Grant in frank almoin by Matilda de Lucy, late the wife of Richard de
Rivers, to Richard, the prior, and the canons of Holy Trinity, London,
of 10s. yearly rent out of the portion of rent belongiong to her in
Niweton [Newington], which she has paid them hitherto according to the
old grant of Sir Richard de Lucy her grandfather. Witnesses: - Sir
Martin, rector of Meresey church, Sir Philip, rector of Bobingewrd,
Thomas de Ryseburgh, clerk, and others (named) [Reference: Descriptive
Catalogue of Ancient Deeds in the Public Record Office 2 (1894): 65].
