The issue here, of course, is not how long it takes the Postal Service to
deliver Richardson's MCA, but how long it takes to get the books INTO the
stream of the Postal Service. Doug Richardson told us on 6/13 that he was
beginning shipping on that day, and he told us on 7/26 that he had been
shipping books for a month and presumably was still continuing - since some
customers apparently have not yet received books, or even had them shipped
from SLC.
I suppose one could reach the conclusion that there was an enormous
pre-order volume for MCA, and Doug's shipping staff (his family?) couldn't
keep up with it. If so, Doug is to be congratulated on his book's success -
and encouraged to look for a better shipper. An order from his publisher
GPC (not requiring payment months in advance) would have arrived by
mid-June. A greater degree of candor regarding the delivery process and
timeframes would have been desirable.
I continue to see value in Doug's books despite their much-discussed flaws
of both fact and presentation. If I choose (as I likely will) to purchase
his next book (when/if it comes - and I actually hope it will), I will
probably go again through GPC rather than the demonstrably unreliable
process of ordering from the author.
Caveat emptor [some Latin for Hines!]

For once I will reply to the presumptious Hines. I do not think, it was
the
other person who after six weeks was concerned about the non arrival. And
who said anything about the postal conditions? Air mail, sea mail, second
rate mail-----sorry I do not see any mention but the presumptious Hines
_knows_
Hilarious Hines has ceased to be funny a long time ago. My message was to
allay worries from people about long delays I remember at least one from
New
Zealand. No doubt Richardson likes to reassure people and I think he
should
be guarded so he does not create false expectations, but that is all too
hard for Hines.

"Postal Havoc"....
Hilarious!
How long does Leo think regular mail to overseas addresses by ship
takes?
Two months from Michigan to Australia is not at all unreasonable.

| We see fairly regular requests "Doug when can I expect my book" if I
was Richardson I would avoid giving a specific answer as even
information given at the post office may be unreliable.

| Someone in Berkley MI 48072-2011 sent me a padded envelope on 23 May
2005 and it has arrived today 28 July 2005. And so it took more than two
months. The person already expressed concern to me that it may have been
lost.
