Respnse on Early Marriages

Good Morning,
I had of a query on the disbelief of early marriages. Yes they arranged
marriages at incredibly young ages, from one of my lines, John and William
Boteler,(brothers),married D'Argentine sisters, daughters of John
D'Argentine. They lived at the Manor and had an "Aid" to assist them, they
were apprx. 5-6 years old and had to be supplied with little socks, shoes
and linens. Actual data can be found at:
W.M. Palmer, Argentine Manor, Melbourne, Cambridgeshire, Antiquarian
Society Proceedings and Communicaitions, vol. 28,pp16-79 (1925-6),
Another family line, she was married off at the age of 9, married 4 times
and ended up at Duchess before she was forty. So to answer the question ,
yes, they were married off young and as arranged marriages for land,
money, titles or for alliances, either at the families discretion or the
kings. Hope this helps, makes interesting reading alos.
Best Regards,
Emmett Butler

Thank you Chris for responding for me, I have not yet gotten the "hang" of
all the necesarry data needed, that I know is needed. When I write I often
overlook this and will try to ammend my process in the future. Sorry to
all and thanks again Chris.
