Dear Bill ~

On your website, you show the following information regarding William
d'Aubeney, the Magna Carta baron:

16. William d'Aubigny, Lord of Belvoir (1-1) b. aft. 1146, d. 1 May
1236, Magna Charta Surety
+ Margery [-?-] (1-1).

My research indicates that William d'Aubeney's wife was Margaret (or
Margery) de Umfreville, daughter of Odinel de Umfreville, of Prudhoe,
Northumberland, by Alice, daughter of Richard de Lucy, Knt., of
Chipping Ongar, Essex, Chief Justiciar of England.

For Margaret de Umfreville's new Carolingian ancestry, see my
forthcoming article on Margaret's mother, Rohese of Boulogne, wife of
Sir Richard de Lucy, which will appear in print sometime within the
next year.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

Dear Merilyn ~

Thank you for your post. Good to hear from you.

William d'Aubeney's wife, Margaret (or Margery) de Umfreville, was the
daughter of Alice de Lucy. Alice de Lucy's mother in turn was Rohese
of Boulogne, sister of the well known Faramus of Boulogne.

I recently posted an extended pedigree of the Boulogne family here on
the newsgroup. You can use my Boulogne pedigree to trace the ancestry
of Rohese of Boulogne back in time.

Rohese of Boulogne's descendants are simply enormous. Michael Welch of
California tells me he has 11 descents from her alone, ten through
Olive (Welby) Farwell, and one through Jane (Lawrence) Giddings. I
believe he's planning to post one of them shortly.

According to ES (not always the most reliable source) Faramus de Boulogne
also known as de Tingry did not have a sister. ES III/4 Tafel 621

The sad part is that for Tafel 621 quite a long list of sources has been
given which makes it harder to pinpoint where these details come from.
