_RootsWeb: GEN-MEDIEVAL-L RPA correction - in MCA? Stanley of Hooton_
(http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/GE ... 1121390874)

William de Stanley, Kt.
married Margery, daughter of William de Hoton, with agreement dated 10 Jan.
1376 [RYCH/1673]. She was alive as late as 1406 [RYCH/1753 & 1754]. William
died by 1428 and was succeeded by his grandson William in his patrimony [see
VCH Stafford 7, 230-1].

William de Stanley, Kt., son of William and Margery, was married by 1403 to
Blanche [I have seen no satisfactory evidence for her surname], and was
deceased by 1424 [RYCH/1802] with Blanche living as his relict.

William de Stanley, Kt., son of William and Blanche, succeeded his
grandfather in 1428. He was mentioned in letters of attorney dated 11 Jun. 1434
[RYCH/1722], and was still alive in 1446, when letters of pardon were issued to
his son [called William de Stanley of Hoton, esq., son of William de Stanley,
Kt.] on 24 Sep. 1446 [RYCH/1676]. He was apparently deceased by 1451 when his
son was called simply William de Stanley of Hoton [RYCH/1787]. I have seen
no satisfactory evidence for the identity of his wife.

William Stanley, esq., son of William de Stanley, Kt., died 17 Feb. 1465/6,
and his widow and the mother of his son and heir was Alicia [sister of Henry
Hoghton, esq.] [RYCH/1324 & 1677]. They also had a daughter Isabella Stanley
whose marriage contract was dated 20 Dec. 1465 with her intended spouse as
John, son of John Marchumley the elder [RYCH/1620].

William Stanley, Kt., son of William and Alicia, had licence to marry on 26
Jul. 1470 Agnes Grosvenour [RYCH/1678]. In 1523 their son, William Stanley,
Kt., called himself son of William Stanley, Kt., and Agnes, daughter of
Robert Grosvenour, and mentioned his father's will [RYCH/1430].
