As many of you know, French Canadians now have two well documented royal
lineages through Catherine Baillon and the Le Neuf brothers. Dr. Gagné
was an important player on both projects and I was one of his
colleagues. Those of you who followed these projects closely know that
the research teams, both led by the late René Jetté, posted status and
progress reports on web pages. We would also occasionally ask people to
contribute financially to these projects. Without the financial
assistance we received from several kind people our projects may not
have been completed or would have taken much longer.

For several years now, my good friend Dr. Gagné and a French partner who
wishes to remain anonymous have been researching the ancestry of
Anthoinette de Longueval, the mother of Anne Convent, wife of Philippe
Amyot. Many French Canadians can trace descent from her through the
Amyot/Amiot line.

Dr. Gagné has made much progress in his research on this lineage, but he
could use your assistance. Please point your browser to
http://www.habitant.org/longueval for an update on his research and for
information about donating to his research project.

We never ultimately know where our research will lead us, and there can
be no guarantees, but it appears likely that Anthoinette de Longueval
will turn out to be another royal gateway ancestor for French Canadians.

I should have included the surname Amiot or Amyot in the previous
message's subject heading I posted. There are many French Canadians who
know they descend from the Amiots but might not realize that the Amiots
descend from the noble de Longueval family.

Among the various known royal lines or good candidates, the Longueval
is likely the one with the higher number of descendants.

The other day I was poking around the Dictionary of Canadian Biography
online and noted that Jean-Baptiste Amiot (fl. 1720-1763, the blacksmith
at Fort Michilimackinac, had a Sauk wife by which he had eight children.
His parentage is not known in this article (see
http://www.biographi.ca/EN/ShowBio.asp? ... uery=amiot), but I
wonder if he too would be a descendant of the de Longuevals. If that is
indeed the case, then I suspect there are some Métis descendants who
have this noble ancestry and are unaware of it. This research could be
of interest to not just French Canadians but also Métis.

I wonder if other Amiots were involved in the fur trade and left Métis
descendants.

Does anyone know the parents of Jean-Baptiste Amiot? Just curious.

Do you mean this one ?

AMIOT, Jean Baptiste Ambroise
* m vers 1720 Fort Michilimakinac (990404, MI)
KITOULAGUE, Marianne (..)
1) Agnès Agathe, m Fort Michilimakinac 1751-01-11 (pff) ou
1751-02-11 (his) Charles CHARLU dit CHANTELOU
2) Françoise, m Fort Michilimakinac 1756-04-27 Charles FAUTEUX
3) Marie Françoise ou Marie Angélique, m Québec 1757-02-14
Pierre CARIOT
4) Nicolas, m Fort Michilimakinac 1755-08-18 Suzanne OUKIMAKOUÉ

DGFQ proposes Chs m Marie PHILIPPE, but see where is their son
Joseph Jean Baptiste: in Martinique and not in Michigan.

AMIOT de VINCELOT, Joseph ou Charles Joseph
* m 1691-02-19 Montréal
PHILIPPE du HAUTMENY, Marie ou Marie Gabrielle Élisabeth
1) Jean Baptiste, m L'Islet 1738-03-26 Charlotte ROUSSEAU
2) Jean Gabriel, m Québec 1741-11-07 Marie Anne LACOUDRAY, m
Montmagny 1786-10-03 Geneviève ALLIES
3) Joseph Jean Baptiste, m Martinique ? vers 1730 Marie Victoire
Françoise MARTIN dit DESMORANDIÈRE (proven by other records)
4) Marie Geneviève, n vers 1692 (sep-1735), d 1735-04-03
Hôtel-Dieu de Québec (Q452), s 1735-04-04, m Québec 1718-12-28 Jean
Jacques RICHARD

Habitant Heritage (6) 25 proposed as parents Chs m 1677 Rosalie DUQUET
but I don't know why. Their son Jean Baptiste is married to someone
else.

My guess is: Pierre AMIOT dit VILLENEUVE & Louise RENARD, this for
many reasons.

His parentage is not known in this article (see

There was Daniel.

Does anyone know the parents of Jean-Baptiste Amiot? Just curious.

See my guess !
