The newly published Magna Carta Ancestry (MCA), in its section on Mautravers, discusses Alice Stafford, who m. (1) Sir Edmund Cheyne [or Cheyney], and m. (2) Walter Tailboys. In the Mautravers section, Alice is said to have died before 1469, but in the Tailboys section in MCA she is said to have d. before 24 April 1448. The article on her 2nd husband Walter Tailboys in CP 7:358-9 (not cited by MCA under Tailboys) supports the 1448 date and provides a reference. If CP is correct, MCA is wrong in its Mautravers section and right in its Tailboys section. It's not immediately clear how MCA supports the 1469 date.

Alice Stafford was the daughter of Sir Humphrey Stafford (styled "of the silver hand") and Elizabeth Mautravers. MCA says this couple had 5 sons and 2 daughters, but (in a departure from its usual practice) not itemizing the names of the children. There seems to some disagreement among the cited sources regarding the number of children. In addition to Alice, I know of Sir Richard, Sir John, and William. Is there any satisfactory support for the two additional children (apparently cited by Roskell's History of Parliament) and can they be identified by name? [MCA does not address the disagreement between its sources]
