William Lucy, of the Charlcote family

I've found an interesting page or two in Lipscomb's "Bucks", Vol IV, pp.
193-4. In it an account is given of a relationship between a William
Lucy and Elizabeth lady Clinton.

William Lucy is stated to be 22 and up at Eliz. Clinton's IPM on 21 Nov
of 2 Hen VI (1424) and to be her heir, though seemingly heir to not very
much. William was son of Alice [Hugford probably], daughter of Margery,
daughter of James, son of John, sister [sic] of William, father of
William, father of the aforesaid Elizabeth. I reckon he was the
William Lucy who died in 1466 and thus was born c. 1402.

Elizabeth was the daughter of William de la Plaunche of Haversham, Bucks.
She dsp having had had four husbands: Robert, lord Grey of Rotherfield,
John lord Clinton, Sir John de Birmingham and Sir John Russell. She
died, from her IPM, on 11 Sep in 2 Hen VI (1424 presumably).

Obviously I have not accessed even a transcript of the IPM but the
various other bit of information on Elizabeth's husbands are confirmed
in CP, so probably Lipscomb has not got it far wrong.

What interests me is to account for this extended relationship between
this Elizabeth de la Plaunche and William Lucy. Can anyone produce any
more information in the above series of links?

What silly chap worote the above? He should have read the book more
carefully and realised thaat on the previous page there was a further
account, this time in large print, summarising the details of this
descent. He should now apoligise to the whole group, reader by reader,
in triplicate. Or else.

Anyhow the answer is probably as follows (usual advice about using, say,
Courier or other such fixed font):

Nicholas de Haversham (d. c.1274)
(of Haversham Manor, Bucks)
|
Jas. de la Plaunche (1) = Maud (sole heir) = (2) John de Olney
(d.c.1306) | (b.c.1272) | (d.c.1325)
_________________|______ John, dsp
| |
Wm de la Plaunche Joan de la Plaunche = John de Pabenham
| (d. 1335) | (d. 1331)
| |
Wm de la Plaunche James de Pabenham
| (d. 1340) | (heir to bro. John)
| |
Eliz de la Plaunche Katherine (or Margery) de Pabenham = Wm Hugford
(sole surv heir) (sole heir) |
(b. post. c. 1340) |
(dsps 1423) _____________|
|
Thomas Lucy = Alice Hugford
(d. 1416) | (heir to bro. Wm.)
|
William Lucy
(c.1401-1488)

I do hope this one is a bit better.

Note the 1423 death year for Eliz de la Plaunche. That's what both CP
and Lipscombe write, thus giving her death as 11 Sep 1423 (a tiny
microscopic clarification of CP?) if the IPM from Lispcombe is to be
believed. It also gives Wm Lucy to be born 1401 or before.
