I'm very grateful to Douglas Hickling for permission to place on my website
a copy of an article he has written, entitled "Which John de Mowbray was the
Brother of Christiana de Plumpton?"

The article presents evidence about Christiana and her three husbands: (1)
John Scot, son of Henry, (2) Richard de Emeldon and (3) William de Plumpton,
and then goes on to examine in detail a number of possible identifications
of the John de Mowbray who is described as Christiana's brother in 1333.

The candidates considered are: (1) John, son of Sir Philip de Mowbray of
Redcastle, in Forfarshire, (2) John, son of Geoffrey de Mowbray of Wroot, in
Lincolnshire, (3) John, son of William de Mowbray of Easby and Kirklington,
in the North Riding of Yorkshire, and (4) John II, Lord Mowbray.

The article can be read here:

The author welcomes further comments and discussion.
