Savage Family of Clyfton [in Bucklow Hundred] and Macclesfie

Using Leycester's history of Bucklow Hundred and the A2A abstracts of the
Chester and Cheshire Archives, I have tried detailing further the various John
Savages of Clyfton. In the coming weeks I hope to be able to spend time
using other resources to detail this line further. I appreciate all comments,
corrections, additions, etc.

1. Sir John Savage (d. 1386), lord of Clyfton [in Bucklow Hundred], Cheshire
m. by 1370 Margaret Danyers (d. 1427)

2. Sir John Savage (d. 1450), lord of Clyfton, deputy steward of
Macclesfield in 1412 & 1420.
By 1401 became third husband of Maud (Matilda) Swynnerton.
On 10 Feb 1414/5 called John Savage esquyre.
In 1417, as Sir John Savage, granted two messuages on Fleshmongers Lane,
Chester.
In 1420 called John Savage chevalier.
In 1436 is dated a letter of attorney by Sir Thomas Stanley, Richard Bolde,
and others to receive seisin of lands in Cheshire from Sir John Savage Kt. and
his son John Savage esq.
He had a son William who appeared in 1454 in the Mayor's Books of Chester.

3. John Savage, Esq., of Macclesfield, Cheshire (d. 1463)
In 1423 called John Savage junior.
Occurred 1448 as John Savage, son of Sir John Savage Kt.
In 1462 called John Savage esq. of Macclesfield
His son Arnold Savage appears in 1454 in the Mayor's Books of Chester.

4. Sir John Savage (d. 1495) of Macclesfield, Knight of the Body to Henry
VII (1494), Mayor of Chester (1484), Deputy Steward of Macclesfield Forest.
In 1458 called John Savage the younger esq.
