A new addition to the next RD600+ ?

In 1793 Dr. John Beal Davidge, originally of Annapolis, MD, married
William (Wilhelmina) Hathorn Stewart in Edinburgh before moving back to
Baltimore, where he died in 1829 (after starting what would become the
University of Maryland; see "Dictionary of American Biography" 5:91 and
"The National Cyclopedia of American Biography" 22:330-331). It would
seem that his wife might be a likely candidate for inclusion in the next
edition of RD600, if any of her Scottish gentry ancestry can be shown to
lead to royalty.

William/Wilhelmina Hathorn Stewart was a daughter of John Hathorn of Over
Airies and Agnes Stewart of Physgill. According to a number of secondary
sources of greater or lesser trustworthiness, the following is the Stewart
line in question:

1. Sir John Stewart of Garlies (d. 1419/20; prob. descendant of Alexander,
4th Steward of Scotland), m. Marion Stewart of Dalswinton
2. Sir William Stewart of Dalswinton and Garlies (d. c1479)
3. Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies (d. c1500), m. Elizabeth (perhaps
Douglas, of Cavers)
4. Alexander Stewart of Garlies (d. 1513), m. Elizabeth Kennedy
5. Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies (d. 1581), m. Margaret Dunbar
6. John Stewart, parson of Kirkmahoe (d. 1592), m. Margaret Stewart
7. Alexander Stewart of Physgill (d. 1645), m. Sarah Dunbar
8. Alexander Stewart of Physgill (d. 1653), m. Elizabeth Wardlaw
9. John Stewart of Physgill (d. 1719), m. Agnes Stewart of Glenturk
10. Lt. Robert Stewart, younger of Physgill (d. 1715), m. Frances Baillie
11. Agnes Stewart of Physgill (1715-1786), m. John Hathorn of Over Airies
[above]

At least some of the Dunbar marriages should lead to early British
royalty, though I have not yet found any definite link. The wife of #5
was apparently daughter and heiress of Sir Patrick Dunbar of Clugston.
According to the following site, Sir Patrick Dunbar of Clugston was a
younger son of Sir John Dunbar of Westfield and Mochrum (d. 1503):

Through him Sir Patrick would be a descendant of Robert II of Scotland.

If anyone knows of any evidence for this filiation or for another RD
through this family, I would appreciate hearing from you.
