A year ago I posted several lines to royalty for the Worsley family of
Deeping Gate, Northamptonshire. Since then I have pieced together from
secondary sources several more. I propose to post one or two of these lines
of descent here to elicit correction as required.
The first is thus:
HENRY I, KING of ENGLAND., Born Sept. 1068 at Selby, Yorks. M 1st 11 Nov.
1100 at Westminster Abbey, Eadgyth or Edith (Died 1 May 1118), d. of Malcolm
III Canmor, King of Scots, & his wife Margaret of England. M 2nd Adeliza,
d. of Godfrey I, Count of Louvain. He succeeded his elder brother William
II as King of England, 1100; & his brother Robert as Duke of Normandy, 1106.
He won the support of the Saxons by marrying a Saxon princess & granting
them a charter. He was an able administrator who built up a professional
bureaucracy & established the system of sending out itinerant justices.

ROBERT de CAEN, 1st EARL of GLOUCESTER., Born c. 1090. He fought at the
Battle of Bremule where Henry I defeated Louis VI, King of France. In 1126
he had custody of his uncle Robert, Duke of Normandy as a prisoner at
Bristol. He sided with Mathilda against King Stephen & became her
commander-in-chief. He took King Stephen prisoner but was captured later

daughter" under which she received a bequest to be paid to her at her "age

stepfather Sir John Poley as "my daughter-in-law Sabina Worsley" under which
she received a legacy of £1300 "to be paid her at her date of marriage", 1

Shelford, Co. Cambs. (He was mentioned in the will of his mother-in-law as
