Deans of Whalley Lancashire

If anyone is acquainted with the Shuttleworth Deeds
edited by Colonel John Parker (Chetham Society), it
should be noted that it would appear that he was
mistaken in claiming that Ameria (daughter) of Henry
Whalley to be the grand daughter of Dean Geoffrey
Whalley the Elder. Ameria must have been the great
grand daughter.

The notation Page 3 relates to a conveyance to Ameria
of property in the vill of Eccleshill (S.D. c1280)
Mention is made of Henry, Geoffrey, and Roger de
Whalley who were most likely the sons of Geoffrey
Junior Dean of Whalley (the son of Dean Geoffrey
Whalley the elder)

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Bulkley
