More details on Penelope Hill / Edward Russell son of Franci

Recently while looking for documentation on the BACON family on the A2A site,
I came across a very interesting will of 1694 of Francis Russell in which he
bequeths to brother Edward, his sister Leticia, lately Cheeke, now Russell;
his sister Katherine Harbord; and his nieces Letitia Harbord, Anne Cheeke, and
Essex Cheeke. He also bequeths to Hill Brooke, daughter of Sir William Brooke
and now wife of Sir William Boothby.

At first I was confused by the more famous Essex Cheeke who died in 1660/70,
this is not her since this one was living in 1694 at the time of this will.

The notes within the will go on to specify that Francis' mother Penelope had
married to a Russell as her third husband; her second being Sir William
Brooke, mentioned above.

In trying to find who these people were, I hit upon thepeerage.com which
explained that the mother was Penelope Hill who had married Edward Russell, the
son of Francis Russell, 4th Earl of Bedford. I was then able to find the family
at Leo's site so I could confirm certain details.

Penelope Hill was the daughter of Sir Moyses Hill (Burke's Peerage and
Baronetage)
She married first or second Sir William Brooke
She married second or third Edward Russell son of Francis, 4th Earl Bedford

The will I found is apparently that of Colonel Francis Russell d abt 1 Oct
1696
who had married Catherine Grey, dau of William, 1st Baron Grey of Warke

He was the governor of Barbados (DNB)

Apparently they had no children as he leaves nothing to any children.
His sister Letitcia Russell had married Thomas Cheeke and was then the mother
of Edward Cheeke, Anne Cheeke and Essex Cheeke. I note that thepeerage.com
does not mention Essex but on this veing I would like to add a reference from

the House of Lords (British History Online) http://www.british-history.ac.uk/
on a search of Essex Cheeke which reveals
"Lady Letitica Russell widow; Anne Cheeke, widow and relict of Edward Cheeke
late of Pingo dec'd; Essex Cheeke, spinster, and SISTER of the said Edward"

Obviously these are the same persons, proving that an Essex Cheeke did exist
as per the will and the later House of Lords document.

He also bequeths to Hill Brooke, this was his half-sister, per
thepeerage.com, dau of Penelope Hill and Sir William Brooke. Hill Brooke mar Sir William,
2nd Baronet Boothby.

Another missing person is his bequest to his sister Katherine Harbord and his
niece Leticia Harbord. These people are missing from thepeerage.com so I'm
unclear on who she married.

In addition to all of this, the will states that his sister Letitica lately
Cheeke and NOW Russell. This indicates that Thomas Cheeke died bef 1594 and
that Letitica married again to an unidentified Russell. See also the House of
Lords where she is called Lady Leticia Russell, widow.
