Fines relating to Feoffments

Foeffment is the assignment of land or any interest in
land to a stranger, either for a money payment or any
other consideration.

It is interesting to understand that although the
title of the property may be held by the husband, the
husband as vendor when selling the property must
include his wife in warranting against themselves, and
the heirs of the husband.

One might wonder "why include the wife" who has no
obvious interest in the title. The reason she is
obliged to be part of the warranty is that she
releases her right to dower.

Sincerely Yours,
