Thomas Curwen d 1557 Northants

I'm still wrestling with the problems presented by my Curwen brick wall.

Thomas Curwen d 1557 in Sibbertoft/Sybertoft, Northamptonshire. I have a
copy of his will. So far, I've not found any trace of him or his family in
Northants before this time, so I don't know when he arrived in the area --
presumably from the north. I assume he was at least a second or third son. I
feel he is ultimately connected to the Curwens of Workington, in Cumb., but
until I find his father/sibs, I can't prove it.

What I'm fairly certain of is that he's NOT the s/o Thomas Curwen, the
priest of Lowick, Northants (d 1527-33) as several books claim. I have a
copy of the priest's will, and no wife or children are mentioned. (Priests
were first allowed to marry ca 1547-53.) The will reads as if Thomas was a
poor, humble priest. He made John and Richard Curwyn his executors but their
relationship to him or their whereabouts is not stated. Possibly brothers or
nephews? No Thomas is mentioned.

According to JCB Sharp, the priest of Lowick was in place (in Lowick) as
early as 1512. He may or may not be related to Thomas d 1557. Sharp also
found that a John Curwen/Curwyn family lived in Walton, Leicestershire,
several miles from Sibbertoft before 1537, but the head of this family
d.s.p.

Any suggestions re where to look next will be appreciated.

I do not belong to Ancestry.Com, which now offers some searchable English

money?
