Amazing Ancestry of Catherine Baillon

Legg inn av Leo van de Pas » 28 apr 2005 01:06:46

In my data base I have only very few ancestors recorded for Catherine Baillon, but thanks to John Dulong I could add a few more. I have as yet not linked her to Frederick Barbarossa.

But I am curious why the interest in Frederick Barbarossa? The reason I ask is that with the few ancestors I have for her, she descends from many other interesting historial figures, such as

Theodoros II Dukas Lascaris, Emperor of Byzantium
Hendrik I, Duke of Brabant
Ioannes III Dukes, Emperor in Nicea
Iwan Asen II, Tsar of Bulgaria
Philippe II August, King of France
Andras II, King of Hungary
David the Saint, King of Scota
William the Conqueror
St.Olav II King of Norway
Alfred the Great
Charlemagne

and many more
Best wishes

Personally, I am not so much interested in Frederick Barbarossa, but in
his grandson Frederick II "Stupor mundi" (Wonder of the world). His
complex character, despite some despicable aspects, fascinates me. But
I would not have gone out of my way to find him or Frederick Barbarossa
in Catherine Baillon's lineage. I was only trying to answer M.
Poissonnier's questions. I have been watching the work of others who
are extending her lineage with interest and I am totally satisfied in
letting them do this work. For me the fun is finding a royal gateway
ancestor and documenting the lineage. After that I tend to lose
interest. Besides, with Leo's excellent database and other available
resources it is relatively easy to piece together her ancestry after the
twelfth generation (at least the non-controversial lines).
