Faye,

There is a short description of this in "Ancient Sagadahoc," by E.J.
Chandler. Apparently, a group consisting of Sir Ferdinando Gorges, Sir
Humphrey Gilbert, Sir John Popham, and William Parker organized an
expedition that sailed 1 Jun 1607 on the ships Mary and John and Gift of
God. Forty-five colonists spent a cold winter on the coast of Maine. Their
settlement was abandoned when relief ships arrived in 1608. A number of
misfortunes apparently occurred including the deaths of Sir Humphrey Gilbert
and Sir John Popham.

I hope this is helpful.

Sincerely,
Gordon Kirkemo
