RESEARCH HELP
Hello all
I am hopeful someone in the group can advise me . I have been
researching the surname MORTER in Norfolk for a number of years and
can't get beyond a John and Francis, of Catfield , abt 1710. How does
approach the situation when marriage and
death records are non-existence? What other avenues are available?
Thank you
Jack MORTER

Re: RESEARCH HELP
I can't help with the Morters, but at least let me say
'congratulations' on your recent marriage!

I'm sure this will be most welcome from the USA - in England & Australia,
both parties to the marriage have received more commiserations (in roughly
equal measure to each of them) than they have congratulations.

At least she was a well-dressed Rottweiler, but poor Charles! As the
years go by, he gets homelier and homelier.

It was a little joke. Surely it's permissible to make a joke without
fearing a pop on the hand from schoolmarm Miss Powys-Lybbe?

RE: [OT] RESEARCH HELP
I thought they made a very handsome couple and seemed quite comfortable with
each other. It was so sweet, the way he quietly gave her strength as they
kneeled at the altar and he helped her a bit with the words. I know you
guys are putting on a total farce but I did watch the wedding they showed
here in the US and it was quite beautiful.
In addition, when they played God Save the Queen and the camera showed your
Queen standing there, it made tears come to my eyes and I understood why you
guys love your royalty. In all, I found it very moving and most tastefully
done.
Everyone involved came across as real people -- maybe it was because of the
tragedy that surrounded Dianna and the aftermath -- perhaps it has created
human beings out of people that were formerly one-dimensional.
Anyhoo, Starbuck95 makes an arse of himself with his distasteful jests.
There is a big difference between a scholarly debate with sharp words and
childish name calling and teasing.
I find the scholarly debate quite enlightening and the sharp words merely
tell how much each side cares about what they are saying and doing, to the
extent that they occasionally slip into capital letters. That is a far cry
from the ad hominem name calling that is done by some, such as this latest
by Starbuck.
Anyhoo, I am back to scanning in as much of Calendar of Documents Preserved
in France as I can -- my fines are running skyward at the ILL as I am torn
between playing bridge and doing my work. It is spring and it's hard to sit
in my office with the musty books! LOL.
Just one Yanks opinion. Have a great day all.
