To the Newsgroup:

One person who I thought would have posted on King Fernando of Castile
and Jeanne de Dammartin's marriage would have been John Carmi Parsons.
He states in his book, Eleanor of Castile, on page 256 in a
genealogical table that Jeanne's maternal grandmother was Aalis dau of
King Louis VII of France by Constance of Castile. Also on page 8, he
states this:

"Jeanne's marriage to the English King was a political liability for
the Capetians, but in the nobility of her descent she was still a
highly eligible candidate for matrimony, (Countess Marie's mother was a
daughteer of Louis VII by his second wife, Constance of Castile.)"

I would appreciate it if Mr. Parsons could tell the newsgroup what his
sources were for this information.

Best wishes,
Mike Welch
