Another Georgian Link

Hello,

I suspect that, on the whole, the most solid link between modern
western genealogies & medieval Georgia is still the line from the
sisters Maria & Theodora Komnene, both of whom married into prominent
Outremer families and left many descendants. Their mother was a
daughter of Michael Taronites (ES II: 177) who was himself a
great-grandson of Gregorios Taronites who fl. in 1040 (ES III/3: 597).
Although Gregorios' parentage is not explicitly stated in any source I
know of, it seems fairly certain that he descends from the 9th and 10th
century Taronitai who were themselves descended from Bagrat, Prince of
Taron (851). I should mention also that Adontz proposed Gregorios to
be a son of the magistros Asot Taronites (fl. 998) [1].

Does this line still hold or has it been disproven/revised?

Sincerely,
Kelsey J. Williams
