De Flory of Cyprus

Hello,

Jacques II de Flory was created titular count of Jaffa by King Jean II
of Cyprus [1], married Zoe, daughter of Georgios Palaiologos
Kantakouzenos Sachatai, and died in Constantinople in 1463 [2]. He had
four children by Zoe [3]:

1) Carola Cantacuzene de Flory (d. 1515 in Rome) = Hugues Busac (issue)
2) Jason Cantacuzene de Flory (d. in Cyprus)
3) Hercules Cantacuzene de Flory (d. as a monk)
4) Manuel Cantacuzene de Flory (b. Oct 1447, possibly d. young)

Du Cange does not equate his "Florin", Count of Jaffa, with Jacques and
is otherwise unaware of his existance [4]. Nicol, however, identifies
him as the son of a certain Sir Jacques I de Flory [5]. I can find no
other evidence cocerning Sir Jacques I in the sources immediately
available to me, but I do notice an intriguing reference in Sturdza to
one Isabella de Flori, wife of Phoebus de Lusignan, Marshal of Armenia
(bef. 1415-1485), and possibly the daughter of "Jacques de Flori comte
de Jaffa et de Boubounique Le Jeune" [6].

My question is: does this reference really refer to Jacques II (perhaps
Boubounique was an earlier wife?) or does it instead refer to Jacques
I, thus, perhaps, making Jacques II a son of Boubounique Le Jeune?
Chronologically, if Isabella was roughly the same age as Phoebus she
would fit better into Jacques II's own generation than that of his
children; but perhaps he had children over a long period of time?

Also, Du Cange gives a genealogy of the earlier de Florys, beginning
with Jean de Flory "le Viel" who was living in the kingdom of Jerusalem
in 1197, and continuing down to Jacques de Flory, a Cypriote nobleman,
who was living in 1315 [7]. I assume that these are the ancestors of
Jacques I and Jacques II but it seems likely that there must be at
least two or three generations between them. Does anyone know of a
source for these intervening generations?

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Kelsey J. Williams
