Ormerod claims that Isabell (daughter) Philip Egerton
died without issue. She married three times, her
first husband being Robert Bulkelegh, second John
Venables, and third Sir John Delves.

This claim of no issue appears to contradict
genealogical studies in which a number of children are
given with her union with Robert Bulkelegh. One of the
children given to her credit is John Bulkelegh.

However as John Bulkelegh of Eaton( who married
Christian de Ripariis) was a minor 1379, he must have
been born about 1360 at the latest. By that date, it
would appear that Isabell was too old to have
children.

Genealogical studies appear to be missing a
generation. Between 1300 and 1380 there must have been
three generations of Robert of Eaton.

1300: Robert (son) of William Bulkelegh/Maud Davenport
married Felicia. Recorded as Sheriff 1300, 1308-1313.
Children: Robert, Richard, Cecily.

1330: Robert (son) of Robert Bulkelegh married Isabell
Egerton. Recorded as Sheriff 1333-1342

1360: Robert (son) of Robert Bulkelegh

1380: John (son) of Robert Bulkelegh married Christian
de Ripariis

If Ormerod is correct and Isabell Egerton had no
children, presumably the 1330 Robert Bulkelegh must
have married twice, and had a son Robert from the
first marriage.

Sincerely Yours,

This is not quite correct. Ormerod clearly shows a son William Venables from
her marriage to John Venables at III:199 who died before 1368. What is
likely is that Isabel had no surviving issue and the Egerton chart at II:628
should have been d.s.p.s..
