In Burke's Landed Gentry of Scotland, 19th edition, on page 573 starts the entry for the family of Guthrie of Craigie, the lineage starts with John Guthrie, of Hiltoun, 4th son of Sir David Guthrie, 1st of Guthrie.

On page 575 is the entry for the family Guthrie of Guthrie. Sir David Guthrie, 2nd of Kincaldrum, and 1st of Guthrie, etc. married twice and had issue, Alexander and Elizabeth.
Then it continues with Alexander
The only son
Sir Alexander Guthrie, 3rd of Kincaldrum and 2nd of Guthrie.

What is the situation, did Sir David have only one son, or four?
Many thanks.
