Muslim ancestors of Gateway Ancestors?

Inigo Iniguez Arista who lived from about 790 to 852 has been recorded as King of Pamplona from 822 until he died. I found a description about him that he was "a Basque leader, which in that time implied he was a Muslim". Can anyone confirm this, or add any other details about him?

He is an ancestor of quite a number of Gateway Ancestors, to mention a few : Hon. George Percy, Capt John West, Col. Efward Digges, Rev. John Oxenbridge, Sir Francis Wyatt, Rev. Hawte Wyatt, Dr. Richard Palgrave, Elizabeth Throckmorton, Col. Thomas Ligon, Rev. Edward Foliot, Percival Lowell, Roger Ludlow and Herbert Pelham.

On Gen-Med he is an ancestor of Peter de Loriol, Gordon R. Hale Jr., Doug McDonald, Gary Boyd Roberts, Brice Clagett, Tim Powys-Lybbe, Ian Fettes, Brom Nichol Jr., Sam Sloan, Kelsey Williams, Tony Hoskins, Don Stone, John Ravilious, Grant Menzies, Malinda Jones, John Steele Gordon, Louise Staley, Mike Welch and Nat Taylor.

Any details about him will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

No implication concerning religion can be made based solely on him being
a Basque, and if any were to be reached, this would be the wrong one.
This was on the boundary of muslim control, and it was a patchwork of
religious preferences. Aznar Galindez, another Basque leader, was
almost certainly christian (closely allied with Louis the Pious), as
were the Basque leaders to the north (better known as Gascons). The
local Romano-Basque Banu Qasi were muslim, but they seem to have been
the exception. Further, unlike the Banu Qasi, which used a mizture of
muslim and christian names, the names found in this family - Inigo,
Fortun, Garcia, Sancho, Velasco, Oneca, Jimena, Sancha, Toda, Urraca,
Aznar (even Auria) are all Basque or Latin in origin. What we know is
that Inigo Arista was maternal half-brother of Muza ibn Muza ibn Qasi,
but we do not know the religion of their common mother, nor even the
order of marriage (although based on the death of Muza ibn Fortun in
788, it seems likely that Inigo was the second husband, but this is not
without problems either (his grandson was active on an embassy in the
840s. It is reported in muslim sources that Inigo suffered from
paralysis (it is unclear if it was traumatic or stroke-related) and his
son Garcia was militarily active from the early 840s, perhaps in lieu of
his father. A brother (of Inigo and Muza) Fortun Iniguez was a well
respected leader, but was killed about this time. Inigo's death is
reported in (IIRC) in the muslim year that spanned 851/2.

Wouldn't anyone with an early Plantagenet descent be descended from him?
