The following is a Grant issued in 1368 worded as
follows:

Grant in Fee by Hugh de Coton, chaplain, to David son
of David de Eggerton of all the lands and tenements,
rents and services which Hugh had by his feoffment in
Sokenton, Broxun, and Wildelegh with all their
appurtenances, for the life of the said David son of
David and after his death to David de Eggerton,
bastard, and his heirs, failing such heirs to Thomas
de Eggerton, bastard, and his heirs, failing such
heirs to William de Eggerton, bastard, and his heirs,
failing such heirs, to Phillip de Eggerton, bastard,
and his heirs, failing such heirs to Alice de
Eggerton, bastard, and her heirs, failing such heirs to
Urian de Eggerton and his heirs, and failing such
heirs to the right heirs of David son of David de
Eggerton.

It is an interesting document because it provides so
much family information. However one cannot help
wondering if Mrs David Eggerton ever saw her busy
husband!

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Bulkley
