Pat:

Regret I know little of the la Zouche family.

Alan la Zouche, undertaking the farm of Cheshire
1250-1254 at 1000 marks, would appear rather reckless
(the fee was double that of his predecessor) I imagine
that he was relatively a stranger to "wild" Cheshire.
It is quite possible that Sir William la Zouche was a
brother or close relative who assisted Alan at that
time.

The Chartulary of St John Pontefract Vol 1 includes
some Bisset information that may interest you:

1230: Charter 142. Hugh Bisset Chaplain.
1235: Charter 154. Hugh Bisset of Castleford -
witness.
1240: Charter 153 Hugh Bisset of Castleford confirms
gift Park Allerton.
1253: Charter 152 Hugh Bisset Rector of Castleford.

Henry Bisset Bailiff to the Earl Lincoln - Harleian MS
4630 P371.

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Bulkley
