The American born genealogist Harold Brooks-Baker died on Saturday in London,
aged 71. He reputation was, shall we say, _mixed_.

Well, well, I hadn't heard that. Trying to sort out the constitutional
nuances of the Royal Wedding must have proved too much for him. Wonder
what will happen to Burke's now?

He did not own Burke's Peerage the Publishers. He owned
other parts of the Burke's name.

Mr Brooks-Baker was a director of the Publishers Burke's Peerage, but he was
not connected to Burke's Peerage (Genealogical Books) Ltd. the copyright
holder of Burke's Peerage & Baronetage.

As I said before, I know that. But I wonder if the copyright holders
might be able to buy back the use of their name.

A couple of extracts from today's (8th March) _Daily Telegraph's_ obituary of
Harold Brook-Baker

"his great advantage for journalists was that he was always available to make
an arresting comment; his disadvantage was that he was often wrong."

and

"he was quick to assure the Queen that she would be safe from Islamic
fundamentalism because he had discovered she was related to the Prophet Mohammed."
