Dear Patricia Junkin:

According to my source information and the data
provided by you, it would appear important that you
correctly identify this Margaret Bisset. She is not the
grand daughter of the John Bisset who died 1241

The Manser Bisset property held and bequeathed by John
Bisset appears well established. The property was
completely partitioned by the husbands of the three
daughters.

The Ripariis family held the Manor of Burgate 100 of
Fordingbridge 1241-1341. At this date the Ripariis
lost the property to John Tracy who in turn
quitclaimed to his sister married to Sir Thomas de
Langley.

The history (property ownership) is well documented
thereon. I have found no evidence that Oliver la
Zouche, grandson of Roger la Zouche and wife Margaret
Bisset ever held an interest in the Burgate property.

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Bulkley

Dear Paul:

Thank you for your good post.

I might mention that the Rivers family did not "lose" any property to
John Tracy. Rather, Tracy or his wife were descended from the Rivers
family. Evidence of this kinship can be found by consulting deeds
published in the series, Descriptive Catalogue of Ancient Deeds.

Also, the name Ripariis is merely the Latin form of surname, Rivers.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

Douglas,

Had replied directly to Paul and failed to post to Gen-Med hence the
re-post. I have reached a tentative conclusion that Oliver la Zouche may
have married first Iseult Chernet and that his son, John, was by her and not
Joan de Cobham.

"Paul,
Thank you for your reply. Margaret Biset was the daughter of Henry and
Iseult Pantulf and grand daughter Of Manser and Alice de Cany. John Biset
was Margaret's brother.

Fordingbridge Hundred encompasses North Charford with South Charford,
Ellingham, Fordingbridge with Godshill, Broomy Lodge, Linford, Picked Post

A charter of Henry II shows that Burgate and Rockborne, which belonged to
the king at the time of the Domesday survey (V. C. H. Hants., i, 455b) were
granted with other lands to Manser Bisset before 1175.

According to VCH Hampshire, Charford was held by Hugh le Port and passed to
the Chernet family who held it for 200 years. Hugh le Port also held Avene.

Does the striking actress Jacqueline Bisset connect to this Family?

Her real name is Jacqueline Fraser-Bisset and she was born in Weybridge,
Surrey, England in 1944.

Winnifred Jacqueline Fraser-Bisset was brought up in England, though her
mother was a French attorney. (IMDB)

Thank you, Renia.

"Winnifred" -- no wonder she deep-sixed that name.

Lovely Lady -- see _Bullitt_, with Steve McQueen -- one of her best --
as Exquisite Decoration.

But is she a Bisset of this Family or is the Bisset from a totally
unrelated French Family?

Ay, there's the rub.
