Hello All. In Muniments of Title, file ref. 894/132 dated 2 October 1
Elizabeth (1559), it states, "left hand indenture of fine in the Great Sesaion
(sic) for Denbigh [from papers relating to the HANMER family of Pentrepant]
Anyone know the meaning of a "left hand indenture of fine?" Thanks.

Final concords were written three times on a single sheet of parchment, one
at each side and one at the bottom. They were then cut apart along wavy or
"indented" lines (wavy so that the edges could be compared and fraud
prevented). One of the side copies was given to each party, and the copy at
the foot was retained in the records of the court - hence the expression
"feet of fines".
