Charlemagne Society

I was quite intrigued and had a look at the website. Maybe I looked too quickly and I thought the International Society was restricted only to people (Americans) descended from that list of gateway ancestors. And so I sent an e-mail to ask and also asked whether the public could have access to their data base. The answer I received was that anyone who descends from Charlemagne can become a member. And to the second question about access the answer was simply "Yes".
And so I went back to ask how people could have access, and below is the reply. I don't think they will supply their CDs for free and this way the "access by the public" is severely limited.
I am so glad Nathaniel Taylor pointed out the apparent origins of the list of gateway ancestors as now I can check them for free, as I have both books of that subject by GBR, without having to obtain a CD which is time consuming and no doubt involves money.
Best wishes

Dear Sir:

You may request the ancestry of an individual, we will print it out to a five generation form on CD.

Or you may request the descndants of an individual, we will print that out to a CD as well.

Best wishes,
Lowell A. Barker,

Yes, he is telling the truth. I am a member of the Society. I asked
for a cd of my ancestor and received it without a request for any
payment. However, since I am well aware of the cost of postage, etc.,
I did send a small donation that would cover the cost. I believe with
the information that you have, on your ancestors and the books
available to you, it would not be necessary to ask for a cd. Thanks
for your wensite, Leo.

I have a valid question Spencer. Where are your ancestors? Who are they?
Why won't you reveal them to the world? Are you ashamed of them? I have had
some terrible people who were my ancestors (I have also had some prizes). I
am proud to claim all of them, regardless of what they have done, or failed
to do. Why aren't you?

I thought I would mention this before someone else does. You really should
seriously consider my request Spencer.
