Just a second instalment of Family surnames, to see whether I have currently reached the furterest point in researching these family lines or does somebody else know any more?

Any information or help would greatly appreciated

The 1563-4 Yorkshire visitation gives more information on their parents
but the Eure entry on p. 112 may not be right, lacking any confirmation,
and the Neville entry on p. 230 is definitely wrong as the Editor
points out with some corrections in his footnotes. Anything to do with
the Nevilles will give you something to get your teeth into.

The Dalston family was also dealt with in the CWAAS journal, although I
don't have the exact reference to hand. It should help with no.7 ; I do
have written down for no.8, John Dalston d.1511 (son of Robert D,
fl.1490, and a miss Southiac) m. Elizabeth, dau. George Kirkbride by
Anne Threlkell (presumably Threlkeld). The Dalston line back is given
as: Robert 1490, son of Henry, son of Reginald, 2nd son of John de
Dalston d.1369 (m. Agnes), son of Henry d.1363, possible son of Simon
de Dalston fl.1332.
John Dalston (d.1511) and Elizabeth Kirkbride did have a son Thomas
(d.1550) who m.(1) Mabel Denton of Cardew and (2) Eleanor d&h Thomas
Carlisle, and had issue by both wives.
The troublesome Nevilles of Thornton Bridge were also discussed here
last October.

Francis Haswell: 'The family of Dalston', CWAAS, NS, 10, 1910, pp 201-70

C. Roy Hudleston: 'The Dalstons of Acornbank', CWAAS, 58, 1958, pp140-79.

There are also, of course, entries for Dalston in CRH's 'Cumberland Families
and Heraldry'.

#3 Robert Sherburne's parentage is known. It is Richard Sherburne and
Matilda Hammerton. See RD600, pp. 416-421 as well as a posting on SGM
by Douglas Hickling.
