Philip II was not yet king of Spain when he married Mary Tudor in 1553. His
father, Emperor Charles V/King Charles I of Spain, had not yet abdicated.

Okay well i suppose Since he was King of Spain already they didn't have
a choice but to make him King Consort of England...... that is
interesting... I had forgotton about him. I bet that did not set well with
some of the powers to be of England...... Naming him King Consort....
Thanks for the info

While we are on the subject of consort titles.

I know Victoria's husband was Prince conscort... I am assuming when you
are Queen that the highest you can become as a husband would be a prince.

Also I know Jane was only on the thrown for about 9 days...
(sort of )
But she was married was she not? What were they going to do with her
husband.? and how were they going to title him?... and I am talking Jane
between Queen Elizabeth I and her Sister Bloody Mary .

Betty
