Camilla's ancestry

Legg inn av Gjest » 11 feb 2005 03:50:23

Camilla's ancestry can be found here:

http://members.aol.com/eurostamm/camilla.html

She descends from Charles II of England, her closest royal ancestor.

I personally love that she is a cousin not only of her one-time rival,
the late Princess Diana, but also of Celine Dion and Madonna through
her French Canadian ancestry.

But this part have some errors and the reference is not complete.
Fortunately, the links to Celine Dion and Madonna are not changed.

CT is Tanguay, but Tanguay has the baptism only, not the marriage.
So, one source is missing here.

I have the marriage as follows:

1779-MAR-04 (not 24), Montréal (anglican Christ Church)

and with no parents, as it was current at that time in protestant
records. But there is only one Marie Charlotte (and no Charlotte)
that is suitable, so this should be the same.

Drats! I guess I am a cousin as well. At least I can be somewhat

Best wishes!

While there are some misspellings ("Parson s", "Niddleton") and solecisms (the
son of an earl, such as Argyll, is an Hon not a Lord), and the translations from
the French are incomplete ("1er baronet", "Georges Keppel"), the line as given

Thank you kindly for your answer and comments.

Sorry for the misspellings, solecisms and French translation remnants.
Evidently I am more at ease with continental genealogy. Please do keep in
mind that I try my best in English as a second language. If I were to
correct each and every misspelling, solecism and especially anglicism that
most of you Anglo-Saxon posters make inevitably when dealing with French
(or Spanish, Italian, German) medieval names and places I would need to
quit my dayjob. Comment naturally meant with humour. Again thank you. Jean

Dear Bill ~

Nice work on the ancestry of Camilla Parker Bowles. Real nice. I was
interested to see that Camilla descends from one of my colonial
immigrant ancestors, Thomas Goodenow, of Sudbury, Massachusetts. The
first article I ever published was a piece in The American Genealogist
on the English origins of this family. That was back when George
McCracken was editor. He was a great assistant to me as a young
genealogist. I miss George.

I see Camilla Parker Bowles also descends from the Harrington family of
Essex. I connect to this same family through my immigrant ancestress,
Dorothy (Mott) Talcott, of Hartford, Connecticut, whose mother was a
Harrington of Essex. The Harringtons of Essex allegedly descend from
the Harrington family of Exton, Rutland. The Exton family has a
distinguished pedigree going back to King Alfred the Great.

Again, my complements on a great job, Bill. You're the best!

As ever, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
