Question re: Update on Magna Carta Ancestry book

Legg inn av Richard B. Anderson, Jr. » 09 feb 2005 18:41:02

Hello,

I'm writing to ask a question on behalf of my local genealogical society, which may be interested in purchasing the above Magna Carta book.

I showed one of the [more experienced] local researchers here a copy of the message announcing the pre-publication price and it's her question that's included below:

She asked:

Will the new book include only additions, or will it include the original material with corrections added?

I know some of the answer may be incorporated in the message posted on the 8th, but it was not easy to decipher.

I look forward to reading any answers to this question and to viewing the book when it comes out. I've really made extensive use of my society's copy of the newest Plantagenet Ancestry book and RD600 while working on my FARRAR tree.

Best wishes,

Richard B. Anderson, Jr., Danville, Virginia

Dear Richard ~

Thank you for your good post.

In answer to your question, the new Magna Carta Ancestry book will
contain all of the well known and previously documented descents from
the Magna Carta barons, plus a variety of new descents based on my
original research in medieval and colonial records. Besides
documenting descents to individual immigrants, I've also written the
Magna Carta Ancestry book to be used as a general reference work. As
such, my book should be a welcome addition to your Society's library.

The format of the Magna Carta book is the same as the Plantagenet book.
The chief difference is that the Magna Carta book traces descendants
of 17 Magna Carta barons, whereas the Plantagenet book traces
descendants of only one individual, Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of
Anjou. As such, the Magna Carta book takes in a wider swath of
families than the Plantagenet book does.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
